Según la O.N.U, cada kilómetro del océano contiene 120.000 pedazos flotantes de plástico. En ciertas partes de nuestros océanos, hay seis veces más plástico que el plankton (Visite la Gran Isla de Plástico). Sin embargo, las instituciones europeas todavía no consideran la macro-basura como contaminación. ¡Es hora de convencer a los miembros europeos de el Parliement que esto es URGENTE!
La fundación Surfrider Europa está pidiendo que el Parlamento Europeo y la Comisión Europea consideren rápidamente alguna forma de iniciativa legislativa y reconoscan la macro-basura como contaminación auténtica.

Petition : Macro-waste, the forgotten pollution
According to the UN, each kilometer of ocean contains 120,000 floating pieces of plastic. In certain parts of our oceans, there is six times more plastic than plankton (Visits the Great Plastic Island).
However, the European Institutions still do not consider macro-waste as pollution. It’s time to convince our European Parliement members that this is a matter of urgency!
Surfrider Foundation Europe is asking the European Parliament and the European Commission to rapidly take some form of legislative initiative to recognise macro-waste as genuine pollution.
You can do something by signing this petition which will be handed over to the Commission on May 20th, 2009 during European Maritime Day.
